ABOUT THE ROLE

ROLE TITLE:
Head of Digital and Technical Transformation
BASE LOCATION:
Hindlip, Worcestershire
TRAVEL:
Regular travel throughout Warwickshire and West Mercia and occasional travel outside of the two forces’ areas
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  • To lead and direct the Digital Services Transformation programme; ensuring the two forces have a digital technology platform that is fit for purpose, robust, and security compliant.

  • To lead, motivate and inspire the Digital Services and Technology team to provide customer focused services which meet the stated needs, current and future, of the organisation

  • To lead the creation of a well-functioning Digital Services and Technology team, systems, processes, practices and procedures that help solve crimes and protect people from harm, and which results in an environment whereby officers and staff are contented that their Technology makes their work easier and them more effective

  • To have a relentless focus on:

    • Putting the customer first in any service design or delivery channel

    • Ensuring that the  Digital Services and Technology and team has the right behaviours, capabilities, competencies and capacity at the right time

    • Security and accessibility – ensuring that the right people have access to the right information at the right time in a manner that is both safe and secure

    • Maximising the value and trust of digital services to the organisation

    • Minimising the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

    • Maximising the Return on Investment (ROI)

    • Maximising service performance

    • Continual Performance/Service Improvement – in terms of People, Service and Technology

    • Service Innovation – in terms of economy, efficiency and effectiveness of existing and new services

    • Service Integration, engagement and collaboration

  • To lead and take individual accountability to plan, develop and implement strategy, policy, practice and procedure for all Digital Services and Technology assets, service development and renewal to ensure best use of resources to enable the delivery of services to policing that meet the agreed and defined levels of quality

  • To lead on the design, monitoring and review of all Digital Services and Technology policies, processes and procedures to ensure that the required controls are in place, are effective and are being used as intended

  • To deliver service excellence through management of performance (People, Process, Service and Technology), financial management and compliance with all relevant policies and legislation

  • To develop, maintain and improve the digital service estate (including associated assets) to meet the forecast needs of the alliance

  • Ensure that the control processes to manage appropriately the handover and transition of the change portfolio elements into service transition and support are rigorously operated and continuously reviewed to ensure they remain relevant and appropriate to the needs of the alliance

  • To inspire, guide, support and motivate the team by providing direction and encouraging continual professional development (CPD).  Also, ensuring that skills assessments and needs are regularly carried out, reviewed and acted upon

  • Fulfilling the role of Information Asset Owner (IAN) for all information and information processing systems managed within the Digital Services and Technology business area including:

    • To chair the Digital Services and Technology Steering Group

    • To effectively manage and contain all risks and issues for which they are accountable and/or responsible.

  • Head of profession in respect of all allocated portfolio assets, activities, facilities, services and resources, including fulfilling the provision of expert advice, guidance, interpretation and support to executive, managers and senior stakeholders in support of corporate decision-making

  • Head of profession in respect of all allocated portfolio assets, activities, facilities, services and resources, including fulfilling the role of the provision of expert advice, guidance, interpretation and support to executive, managers and senior stakeholders in support of corporate decision-making

  • To effectively manage the service continuity plan for Digital Services and Technology and ensure that any and all responsibilities within the overall Business Continuity Plan are assigned, tested and reviewed on a regular basis

  • Ensure the relentless focus of the allocated portfolio, in terms of understanding individual, team, functional and force performance and contribution, on resolving performance challenges within the portfolio, the Business Services directorate and across the service to enable delivery of agreed outcomes
